Brief note....

I'll be gone from Thursday through Sunday night, since I'll be spending a few days with my family.
But wait! I'll still be posting here in my absence. The posts are already written and are all set to drop on their own, much like the way birds poop on your car when you aren't looking.

It's nice to know I'm not the only flake

I don't have to go in to work today or tomorrow!
This is because we're under a winter storm warning, and might get over a foot of snow before it's all done. (I'll try not to lose anything).

I realize that's nothing compared to the unfortunate folks in Washington who have had a lot more dumped on them. And I bet you guys up in Canada are used to more, too.

Still, I'm making the best of it. It's 12:15 and I've been lounging around in my bathrobe all day. I haven't even showered yet. And I have a headache. Just picture a walking petri dish wearing a big pink bathrobe, eating Ritz Bits crackers and Excedrin while the blizzard rages on.

If band ends up being canceled tonight, I'll probably be spending the entire day at home.
With any luck I'll end up resembling a big contented slug before the day is out.

If I had more energy, my yard could look like this:

Manic Monday: Office

I almost skipped today's post, just because I'm not feeling quite so well.
Kinda headachey and super-tired, and my bones hurt, and my muscles hurt...
Just in case I have four hours to live, it was nice knowing you.

Anyway....

The Manic Monday theme is "office".
I am totally going to cop out and post a cartoon instead of writing something of my own.
On the bright side, though, it IS a Dilbert cartoon.

Certainly I'll be embarrassed at my lack of blogospherical integrity in a few days, but for now, I'm going back to bed.

Will you still love me if I repeat myself?

This week's Manic Monday theme is "candle".
I love scented candles, and I know I've posted various things about them in the past.

For example, here are some things I've said:

1. February 26, 2008:
"If there was a scented candle called "The sweat of my enemies as they scream whilst falling to their deaths into a deep dark giant pit", I think it would be quite popular. There could even be matching air fresheners for the car. And bathroom spray."

2. Random item mentioned on March 9, 2007:
"Blueberry scented candle in a corner of the Emergency Room, recently removed from an unmentionable orifice on some unfortunate person named Phil. (Hint: The candle is no longer quite as blueberry-scented as it used to be.)"

3. And this is from September 30, 2008:
"I hate cheap candles that don't have any scent at all. Especially when they claim to have a scent. The only thing they're good for is returning to the manufacturer and shoving into his various orifices while you shout 'Can you smell it now? How about NOW?'"

4. On June 26, 2008, I mentioned the possibility of lighting a candle to mourn the loss of the Chicken Club Chalupa from the Taco Bell menu.

But the first thing I thought of, while wondering what to post for today, was this cartoon I showed you back on January 3, 2007... almost two years ago:

Bon Voyage

Today is the day Jason leaves for a 4-month trip to Ethiopia. He'll be staying with Chris, hopefully getting some valuable moments of music teaching experience at the International school where Chris works. He hopes to return home shortly before Christmas.

Also, one week from today, Morgen begins his beach-babe vacation over on the East Coast. He'll be gone from 9/11 to 9/22.

Bon voyage, guys. I hope you both have a wonderful time.
I will do my very best not to be insanely jealous. :)
Please come home safely.

Where do you keep YOUR spork?

Things I Did On Labor Day:

1) Watched TWC satellite images of Hurricane Gustav

2) Answered Jannaverse blog comments and sent happy loving vibes out to all of you who commented. Each vibe is worth approximately 1/30th of a cent, so you may want to start commenting more often. (That could add up to a penny per month if you comment every day! That's twelve bucks a century! Think of the possibilities!)

3) Listened to NPR and the BBC, sat patiently while they stuffed news into all available bodily cavities.

4) Hummed the theme to Iron Chef, over and over again.

5) Put a spork in my bra

6) Sat in the cemetery and had tea and cookies at sunset. (Very relaxing!)

7) Reflected on the fact that Tuesday (9-2-08) will be our first band rehearsal of the fall season. We've been on break for about a month now, and I've really missed playing music with this group. Hopefully they're excited about seeing me as well. (I'd better take the spork out of my bra before they hug me.)

Sorry I wasn't able to post yesterday.
I'm spending Sunday with my family too, but I'll be back in the evening. See you then, I hope.

A few rambling thoughts

I had a wonderful time at band last night. We started rehearsing the music to Pirates Of The Caribbean, as well as the theme music for The Incredibles. Extremely fun stuff with lots of good parts for the horns.
After band, we had ABC group at McDonalds.
Chicken nuggets taste better when eaten amongst friends.

I will be offline most of the day today, doing something miserably stressful and emotionally/physically draining.
Feel free to text me, if you have my number. I won't be reachable from 9-12, but will answer you as soon as I can.

This makes me reluctant to admit that I love any other comics, like Dilbert.
