My mind is almost too full to think of bacon

Things I would rather be thinking about right now:

* A giant bouquet of Stargazer Lilies

* Chocolate

* Why Mickey Mouse never farts in front of Pluto

* The perfect recipe for fettucine alfredo

* Anything involving R.E.M.

* Buying light bulbs

* One more thing to add to this list so it can total 55 words

* Bacon pizza

I almost didn't post anything this week, but then I figured what the heck.
I've got a lot on my mind.

The short version of the story is that I found out I have a bone tumor.

Slightly longer version follows:

Saw the specialist Tuesday morning.

He says I have a kind of tumor called an "enchondroma".

It's usually not cancerous, though it sometimes can be.
When it turns cancerous it's called a "chondrosarcoma".

So far they believe this one is NOT cancerous, thank goodness.

I also have severe cartilage damage (which the other specialist
already said) and arthritis in multiple spots (feet as well as knee).

The cartilage will keep wearing away (cartilage doesn't grow back) and
the arthritis will get worse as the years go by.

I can slow the damage by taking Glucosamine Chondroitin for the
cartilage and prescription strength Motrin (800mg) for the arthritis.
After enough time has passed, it'll get too bad for Motrin to work.  The doctor says he will be willing to prescribe Vicodin at that point.

Good news combined with not-so-good news.
But mostly good news, I think, since they don't think it's cancer.

NO surgery has been planned at all.

In the meantime, we're in that vague gray land of "Wait And See".

P.S. August 13th was my seven-year blogiversary!
Wow. I can't believe I've been inhabiting the Jannaverse for seven whole years.

Thank God it's not cancerous, Janna. And I hope the pain management works. Wait and see is a a horrible place to dwell for any length of time.

Hmmm...chocolate or bacon? It's a toss-up for me. :)

Oh, no! Hugs, Janna. Chocolate. Definitely think of chocolate. And friends. Friends help you through life's tough patches.

Mickey wouldn't fart in front of Pluto. That'd be Goofy.

That's great news on the medical front, Janna. Looking forward to enjoying more of your blogging well beyond 7 years!

Hmm... I'd a liked to see a bit more of a fair balance to the good news vs. bad news you received!

I'm sure you are doing a ton of research on this --- educate yourself. Are there any support groups for this kind of thing? I would think hearing how others cope might be helpful... ? Hugs.

... and Chocolat(e) is worth revisiting (especially the movie with Johnny Depp :)

TALON: I agree that "wait and see" is a rotten place.

Nara: Yay! Chocolate! I had some today and it was wonderful. :)

G-Man: Thank you! :)

Shelly: Right now it's the instability and constant fatigue that's bothering me the most. Usually the pain isn't a problem at this point.

nonamedufus: The "Goofy" joke made me groan and laugh at the same time. Kinda the same as sneezing and farting at the same time, except with fewer apologies.

Margaret: Believe it or not, I've never seen Chocolat, despite being a Johnny Depp fan. (!!)
