Let's eat something YELLOW today!!!

It's time to try more British groceries.
After last week's horrendous fiasco with the mushy peas, I wondered how much worse things could get. Which is kinda scary, since I know they MUST have worse things than bad peas over there.

This week I tried British "Lemon Curd".

I'd never tried a jar of lemon curd before. It sounds awful, like cheese curds, or Little Miss Muffet sitting on a tuffet eating her curds and whey. Plus it looks like thick raw scrambled eggs.

For your convenience, I just Googled what a "tuffet" is.

Anyway, back to the lemon curd.

Ready for this? It's delicious! It's just like the lemony part of lemon pie or lemon bars. I love those! I've been eating lemon curd all this time and never even knew it.

I tried it on a Wasa wafer, and on a Hobnob, and, yes, on a Twinkie. The tart lemon didn't didn't blend so well with the chocolaty Hobnob, but it went well with the Wasa, and it was positively heavenly on the Twinkie.

This stuff is great.

Apparently it's not exclusively a British thing, but this is a British brand I bought in the British aisle.
Not to be confused with the British Isles.

Now I'm thinkin' a lemon-filled twinkie, thanks :P

I had butter and cheese on the sanwiches...and tortilla chips...all yellow-ish...um...and a bunch of Cheez-its...

Subby: Lemon Twinkies (made with lemon curd) are really, really good. Like a cross between... well, a Twinkie and Lemon Pie. :)

Cheez-its are good. Now I want some.

If'n it's got lemon in it, I'm there( or at least my stomach is )...

Try the "extra cheddar blasted" goldfish crackers( Pepperidge Farms ) :P...

Even better when you get that extra chunk of cheese powder in the bag...!

miksplace: Really? Excellent! I'll take all the lemon curd and you can have all the mushy peas. :)

Subby: "Extra Cheddar Blasted"? Hm! I haven't had goldfish in a long time. Maybe I'll look for those next time I'm in the store... (Wait, what? Extra chunk of cheese powder?)

Janna, extra cheeeeesy goodness. The "Princess" likes to crunch 'em up in her mac 'n cheese ( of course, I tried that! )

Dude, hobnobs and lemon curd is awesome. You're crazy. And you've never had lemon curd before? WTF?

Janna said...

Subby: Sounds good. :)

Marla: An insult? LOL! I'll have to remember that... :)

Gwen: Oh, I'm crazy for many reasons. This is just one of thousands.

I'm just going to continue to be shocked that you haven't heard of these british things before. Just so you know.

Gwen: Duly noted! I have this theory that maybe I haven't heard of the British stuff because I'M NOT BRITISH. :)
It's still a working theory, but so far it seems to fit. :)
