So is Pepto Bismol called "Pink Sauce"?
Today's foray into British groceries involves something called "HP Sauce".
I learned that HP apparently stands for "Houses Of Parliament".
It comes in a tall square glass bottle, slightly reminiscent of the shape of an A1 bottle. The contents look sort of like barbecue sauce but taste nowhere near as good.
(Oops, did I say that out loud?)
I tried it as a dip for chicken tenders, and also on a burger.
It tastes like someone mixed ketchup and bland cheap steak sauce. Meh.
The label refers to it simply as "Brown Sauce".
(???!!)
Brown.
Sauce.
Sauce.
At least they're not lying about either of those terms.
I feel the need to point out, though, that that's not exactly a selling point, since there are a lot of things that can make a sauce brown-- and not all of them are good.
.............................
The world is full of brown-colored sauces
Like trees in the forest are covered with mosses
You might find one that deliciously pleases
Or one that reeks of despair and diseases
When over your chicken and beef it is dripped
You may sadly discover it's just nondescript.

There is another brown sauce called Daddy's Sauce that is much better.
Don't like BBQ sauce much myself.
I'm guessing Milk of Magnesia is now "White Sauce"?
Brown sauce...it that what follows ingestion of this concoction?
Mik: Oh, I love BBQ sauce. I just didn't care for the brown sauce. I looked in the British grocery aisle again, searching for more things to try, and I didn't see the "Daddy's" brand anywhere. I'll keep looking. I can't afford to buy anything online so I'm kinda limited to just the products my store has.
00dozo: LOL! Yes, probably!
MonkeyMan: Funny you should mention that...
I grew up eating HP sauces. Loved 'em, too. My mom's English.
MikeWJ: Interesting! What were your favorite ways to eat HP sauce?
Holy Pepperoni
Marla: I love pepperoni. Especially holy pepperoni. :)
Once again, what kind of third world country are you living in without HP sauce?
Gwen: We're a country of freaks, I guess. Or so it seems, when I listen to the news. :)
