The Day The Music Died

Let's all observe a moment of silence as we reflect on the awful news that R.E.M. has decided to retire.
I'll go ahead and sob uncontrollably while you read about it here and here and especially here.

I'm probably the 89,347th person to make this remark today, but "It's The End Of The World As I Know It."

What do you think of the opinion that in Out of Time, like in no other release, Mike Mills seized control of the musical direction of R.E.M?

Read that in a book a few days ago (zapiekanki)

But do you feel fine?

zapiekanki: Welcome to the Jannaverse! I liked Out Of Time a lot, despite the fact that it seems to have a lot of Country music spots. I hate country music. I still cringe when I hear the steel guitar on Texarkana and Country Feedback. (And the other spots where they put it). Even despite that, I still love that album (and those songs). Probably the biggest reason is that it has the most MIKE on it of all the other albums. Not sure if he "seized control" to make that happen, but if it's true, then I guess I'm ok with it. He should've seized control more often, I guess. :)

nonamedufus: No. No, I feel like all the blood, all the energy, and all the music has been drained out of my soul.

A bit confused, as I wanted to post a comment (as you can see I decided to do) but observe a moment of silence at the same time. (can't type without saying it aloud)

Lizzy: It's the thought that counts. :)

Whall: Thank you for the moment of silence. :)

Hi! I finally found you! That mp3 you asked for is in your mailbox.

As for R.e.M., I'm still at that stage where, "Tomorrow they will wake-up and realize they made a big mistake."

Adrian: Welcome to the Jannaverse! Thanks for the mp3! I'm listening to it right now as I type. :)
As for R.E.M. being gone forever, it's definitely a sick feeling. I understand completely. It might have been the "right" career choice, for various reasons, but that definitely doesn't make the gaping hole in my heart feel any better.
I'll need time.
And chocolate.
And probably some cookies.
