My biscuit is nobblier than your biscuit

It's time to try more British groceries!
This week the item is called "HobNobs".
The package describes them as "Nobbly Oaty Biscuits."

Since I don't think I've ever used the word "Nobbly" in all my 40 years on this planet, this seems like as good a time as any to start.

Appearance-wise, they look remarkably similar to the "digestive biscuits" I tried a couple months ago. The difference is that these are more like crispy oatmeal cookies. Thus the description of a "Nobbly Oaty" texture.

Surprisingly, they're not bad at all. I say "surprisingly" because I'm ordinarily not that fond of oatmeal cookies. Especially the miserable concoction of oatmeal-raisin cookies. If I'm going to eat a cookie with little brown pieces in it, they had BETTER be chocolate chips.
Raisins are a cruel hateful joke.

Anyway, these were good because the tops were covered in chocolate.
Funny how chocolate makes it all better.

Things that MIGHT not be improved by chocolate:
1) Pickles
2) Tortilla chips
3) Chicken noodle soup
4) Hot dogs
5) Cheetos
6) Ketchup
7) Garlic bread

As with the Aero bar, there is also a chocolate orange version of this, which (of course) I won't get to try because it's not available in my area.
[insert unhappy words here].

OMG! I swear you and I could be soul sisters, except that I'm a dude.

I think. *fleeting insecurity*

Anyway, I love oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips, but totally agree with you that raisins are hateful. I think it's because they start out as beautiful grapes, then get all brown and shriveled up against their will. Sort of like people, who generally start out looking pretty good, but by the end, you know, not so good.

This has ben so helpful, Janna. The next time I'm across the pond hobnobbing with Liz (you know, the Queen), I'll know exactly what to offer her as a snack.

Blasphemer - Oatmeal raisin cookies are food of the Gods.

Did you find the Pims cookies? They have orange (and raspberry too!)

I love these, love to dunk them in my tea, hmmmm yum.

MikeWJ: What a beautiful grape/people analogy. Thank you for giving me yet another reason to avoid raisins. :)

nonamedufus: Tell Liz I said hi. Ask her to send me some of the orange Aero bars.

MonkeyMan: If, by "food of the gods", you mean "something that pales in comparison to REAL cookies," then yes. Yes. Quite true. Look on the bright side; since I won't be eating any, you can eat twice as many, and the balance of the universe can still stay intact!

Grace: Sadly, no; I can't find them. It's possible they aren't sold in my area. (*sad face*)

miksplace: I think the chocolate-graham digestive biscuits were my favorite; but these are good too! I especially think they'd be tasty with an extra-cold glass of milk. Yum!

LU biscuits are sold in Michigan in the following stores:

Michigan

* Hiller's
* Busch's
* Rite Aid
* Kroger
* Meijer
* Target
* Walmart

I don't know if that includes the Pims but almost all of their "biscuits" have some chocolate going on

I'm so glad you didn't include Brussels sprouts on your list of things to improve with chocolate. That would have just been wrong.

Grace: We have Rite-Aid, Kroger, Meijer, and WalMart nearby... I'll go check those. What I want is the chocolate-orange ones. Must have!!

PattiKen: It would indeed be very wrong. Yikes!

I prefer my Hob-Nobs straight from the freezer with milk. I'll keep a eye out for the choc orange version.

SansPantaloons: From the freezer? Really? What an interesting idea... And I bet they would be good with a glass of cold milk.
