Some things should not taste like ketchup and mustard

About three years ago, I did a post on X-13D Doritos, which were cheeseburger-flavored.

I remember liking them well enough, so I was surprised to see them again in the store. This time they were called "Late Night All Nighter Cheeseburger".

I bought a little 2-ounce bag, ready for a happy little snack after my drudgery at the laundromat Saturday morning.

When I tried them, though, I found that one (or more) of the following things had happened:

1. The formula has changed

2. The definition of "cheeseburger" has changed

3. My tastes have changed

4. My memories were all an illusion and I have been slowly going insane for the past 3 years (or more.)

Blechhh.

I don't remember the first ones but I have had these. They do taste a bit like cheeseburgers. Mostly I could taste mustard & pickles. Have you tried the taco ones? They're not too bad...lol.

Maybe you’re ready tp step up from the ordinary cheeseburger to something more posh.

Gwen: OMG. Burger-flavored CANDY? I've seen burger-shaped candy, but actual burger flavored? Wow.

Colette: The Late Night Taco flavor IS better than the cheeseburger kind, but I vastly prefer their previous formula. I loved the taco doritos they had back in the 70's/80's/90's. These new ones are just kinda odd and skanky somehow.

PattiKen: Flame Grilled Steak potato chips? (Er, I mean, "crisps")? Interesting... I'd give them a try. Are they really red like that? Not sure I'd want my chips to be the color of raw meat...

Can't say if they're red, because I never tried them. I was totally seduced by the shrimp cocktail crisps and the barbecued spare ribs crisps.

You've got to love those Brits.

PattiKen: Barbecue spare rib flavor?? Hmmm... y'know, those actually sound good. I wish we had them around here. All we have are the regular barbecue varieties.
Shrimp cocktail potato chips? Wow... seriously? Just.... wow.

Mike: Yikes! I wonder if they make haggis flavored ones. :)

I've had this exact same experience lately with several foods that I used to love.

Original-flavor Bugles, however, are still delicious, I'm happy to report.

I almost want to order you some just so I can read the review. Also because I'm a jerk.

MikeWJ: I like Bugles! The plain ones are sort of ok, but I vastly prefer the flavored kind. Any flavor. :)

Gwen: Gaaaahhh!!
