Now please don't tell me to jump off a cliff...
Today's the day I proved that I really do listen to you.
No, really!
In the comment section here, Antelope suggested I try "Amy's" brand frozen vegetarian dinners, and in the comment section here, Subtorp77 recommended broccoli-cheese Hot Pockets.
So when I went shopping on Friday, I searched around until I found both.
Today I tried them.

Day #6 of vege-week:
Breakfast: (Nothing! I decided to sleep in!) :)
Lunch: Bowl of pesto tortellini (Amy's Brand), with garlic bread
Snack: Balaton Cherries and Fig Newtons with black raspberry jelly
Dinner: Broccoli Cheese Hot Pockets
Snack: Concord grapes, tea

.
The broccoli-cheese Hot Pockets were sort of ok. I knew after reading other people's reviews that I needed to lower my expectations before I took that first bite. (*shrug*) They weren't completely awful, but neither were they scrumptious. Not a big deal either way.
Stay tuned for tomorrow, which is my very last day of the vegetarian experiment. I can almost guarantee that ice cream and chocolate will be involved.

Awesome! I'm glad you liked Amy's, along with gardenburgers maybe they'll stay in your meat-eating repertoire.
Oh, and yes, this is me commenting on your blog at 9:30 on a Saturday night.
Antelope: I'm tempted! They're kind of expensive, so I wouldn't be able to afford it often, but I think once in awhile it could be possible.
Wow... Antelope commented at 9:30 and now I'm commenting at 8:54 and it is still Saturday night. Do you think he could give me any pointers about life in the future?
The tortellini looks good but Broccoli is my personal nemesis.
Marilyn: It looks like I'm on Eastern time, Antelope is on Central, and you are on Mountain! Maybe the next commenter will be on Pacific time! Stay tuned.
.... Broccoli is your nemesis? Does it follow you around in a supervillain outfit with a warped-looking "B" on the front?
Amy's is good, especially with a little parmesan sprinkled on top. But--and I hate to harp on a theme here--barbecue is better.
Lean Pockets have other choices besides whole grain. I don't mind Lean pockets at all - used to take them to work for lunch - broccoli & cheese is one of my favorites. They do it with chicken as well. I realize that is not an option this week.

Now I know this was just an experiment to see if you could get through a whole week without eating meat, but you'll have to tell us how you feel too.
Do you feel healthier?
MikeWJ: LOL!! Has anyone ever told you that the haircut hides your horns really well?
Grace: I've tried some of the other kinds and didn't think they were as good as the fattening kind. :)
Travis: Healthier? Hmmm. No, I guess I don't. Interesting. I feel just the same as before, only with fewer pepperoni molecules in my bloodstream. :)
Amy's actually makes some pretty good stuff overall. Her boxed mac and cheese is way better than KD (and I think we all know that KD is like the national food of Canada).
Yves also makes some really good stuff. Their deli slices are pretty good and their salami is wicked on pizza (and you get a waaaaay less greasy pizza). I also use their "just like ground" in lots of things like chili, soups, stew, shepherd's pie, etc. (basically anywhere I would have used ground beef).
You know... just in case you ever decide to try this again. ;)
Gwen: If only the Amy's stuff wasn't so expensive, I'd have it more often.
... Vegetarian salami???
Really?
I'm not vegetarian, but the Amy's Pesto Tortellini is one of my favorites.
Lynda: I really liked it. It had enough sauce, and it went well with garlic bread. It made good "comfort food".
