Now I'm craving little chocolate peanut butter brains...

I'm going to be house-sitting for Mom & Dad on Friday/Saturday, so I'm trusting you all to not tear the place to smithereens while I'm gone.
(Note: the word "smithereens" always reminds me of my college days, when I would watch this video on MTV in the basement of my dorm)

While I'm gone, you might be able to amuse yourself with the following sites:

1. Scanwiches.com: What a lovely idea. Make a sandwich, cut it in half, and put it on a scanner so we can all get a nice view. Some of these combinations are a little "unique". (Duck and Fig Butter and Brie?)

2. FancyFastFood.com: Clever and nasty all at the same time. "Fancy" recipes made by taking apart fast food and re-assembling it in new and creative ways. Pictures included!

3. And if you plan on making candy this weekend, be sure to buy these "Bite Size Brains" candy molds. Just think of the possibilities!

And just imagine a site which could somehow incorporate all three of those into one idea.
(???!!!)

(Credit where credit is due:
I'd like to thank Gwen, for alerting me to all three of those sites via Twitter! Yay Gwen! She's Gwentastic! )

Hey, now that you mention it... you're right! I AM GWENTASTIC!

Fishhawk: Wow! Thank you!

Whall: Are you sure?

Grace: There is, but it's set up kind of weird and I don't know how to hook it up. Long story.

Subtorp: I shudder to think of the sandwiches you could create... hopefully they won't have any of those creole ingredients you mentioned on the other post....

Gwen: Of course!

Janna, no worries on that! Here's an old favourite( tho' I haven't made one in years ): PB, bologna, banana, mustard, lettuce on wheat; potato chips optional-yum!

Scanwiches makes me hungry but I'd hate to have to clean the scanner.

Fancy fast food looks good but kinda sounds gross when you read the directions. Besides, I don't see the point in going to all that trouble. Fast food is so I don't have to cook.

Brain molds: just a good idea. Wonder why I don't already have some.

Subtorp: PB, mustard, and potato chips... three things which should never be mixed together. Banana and bologna... two other things which should never be mixed together. Lettuce, banana, and potato chips... well, you get the idea. Stop that. You're starting to scare me.

Marilyn: I thought the fast food stuff looked pretty gross too. And the recipes sound awful. They took something humble and down-to-earth, and changed it into something persnickety and unrealistic.

Janna, funny isn't it? I never cared for s'mores or fluff. Mom says I got my weird concoctions from her mom. And have you tried the chips and ice cream yet?

Subtorp: Ack! Bllechhk! My mom likes freaky stuff like that. She claims it's enjoyable because of the "contrast of flavors."
My only freaky contrast (which I don't even think is all that freaky) is to take fresh-cooked pasta and completely cover each piece with tabasco sauce, then toss the entire bowl with parmesan cheese. It's surprisingly good, though I've never encountered anyone else who eats it.
I guess the reason I don't consider it all that weird is because it's all made from savory ingredients, rather than mixing salty/SWEET/savory.

If indeed I end up being the weird one, I'm totally ok with that. :)

Janna, that actually sounds pretty good. And the sweet'n salty thing has gotten a following( c'mon, no chocolate covered pretzels? M&M's? Cheetos and rootbeer? )....

Janna said...

Subtorp: Cheetos and rootbeer? Together? In your mouth at the same time? :P

You should see what Princess Cheese eats! Then again, Itried it and Goldfish crackers in the mac 'n cheese is pretty good.

And yes! to the Cheetos and rootbeer. Or better yet; rice crispies and root beer...better than pop-rocks!! Not that I would know that, of course...

Subtorp: Goldfish crackers on macaroni & cheese actually sounds kind of tasty....

Janna...it's...it's...the cheesiest! We like the "extreme" cheese ones best :)
