Peanut Butter and WHAT?

I've come to the conclusion that we live in a bizarre world where people eat a lot of freaky weird things.
Even something as innocent and tasty as peanut butter can be rendered virtually inedible by the addition of a few simple ingredients.

This post is all about weird peanut butter sandwiches.

I want you guys to tell me all about this.
Have you done any of the following hideous combinations?
It's ok, go on and admit it. You'll feel better afterward. Or at least you might after you get the taste out of your mouth.

1. Peanut Butter and Pickle.
Gwen says she likes this. Apparently there are others who agree.

2. Peanut Butter, Bacon, and Mayonnaise.
Also known as a sad waste of perfectly good bacon. I don't want to believe it's true, but... it is.

3. Peanut Butter, Mayonnaise, and Lettuce.
The very thought makes me feel a bit queasy. I don't like lettuce on sandwiches, and mayo is pure evil. Yet, here it is.

4. Peanut Butter and Tuna.
Frightening. And there's more than one site for it. Shudder.

5. Peanut Butter and Onion.
Onions are already evil. They're extra evil if they're responsible for wasting perfectly good peanut butter. Yet, here are multiple recipes for this combination from hell.

6. Peanut Butter and Mustard.
Here's a video of a kid eating one. On purpose. As if that wasn't bad enough, here's peanut butter with mustard AND onion.

7. Peanut Butter and Tomato.
Yes, there are multiple sites for people who eat this.

8. Peanut Butter and Tofu.
Yes. Believe it or not. Here.

9. Peanut Butter and Salmonella.
What? You hadn't heard? Hey, go on. Try it. It can't be any worse than any of these others.

10. Peanut Butter and Eggs.
PB and eggs, together in a sandwich. Here's how to make one. Here's a video of some guy eating one.

11. Peanut Butter AND Dill Pickle AND Tomato AND Onion AND Bacon.
Want to try it? Maybe this guy can help, if his stomach hasn't self-destructed yet.

12. Peanut Butter and Fish Heads.
Well, I don't know if it actually got eaten, but here's a (possibly photoshopped) picture of it.

13. Peanut Butter, Garlic, and Spaghetti.
Lest you think I am being closed-minded to the possibility of trying strange things, I'd like to say that I actually think this might not be all that bad. I've had Thai peanut noodles before, and they're pretty tasty. This would probably have a similar flavor. Here's a recipe. (not a sandwich but an entree).

14. Peanut Butter and the jelly from the inside of a can of Spam.
Think I'm kidding? Go look at #12 on this list.

What else is there? What flavors do YOU mix with peanut butter?
Go on, tell me.
I must know. :)

By the way, January 24th is National Peanut Butter Day.
So go ahead.
Just stay away from the contaminated stuff.

january 24 is national peanut butter day?
OH the irony?
and I don't think I'll try anything on your list, thanks - even though I've been craving peanut butter crackers ever since they've been BANNED!

I don't just "like" them. I LOVE them! NOM NOM NOM!!! I also LOVE peanut butter and perogies. mmmm... my whole family does. My grandfather goes through one of those giant tubs of natural peanut butter from Costco almost every month and my cousin eats almost as much. They both put peanut butter on just about everything.
My grandfather puts peanut butter, molasses, sausage, salt and pepper on pancakes and puts peanut butter on hard boiled eggs. My cousin puts peanut butter on her mac and cheese. (I myself have been know to enjoy cheese wiz and peanut butter on toast.) And that's only the beginning.

#14 made me throw up in my mouth a little. Ugggghhhhhh....

I've never had any of these combinations. I do, however, LOVE me some pbutter and banana sandwiches. My dad sometimes has the pbutter with onions and I've always turned up my nose at him - never was brave enough to try it!

It is so sad. Sam and Ella's peanut plant was forced to close from this contamination thing. They laid off their entire workforce. The little south Georgia town is in turmoil. Their Georgia Pacific tree processing lumber mill laid off last week.

They look for the town to die now.

Peanut butter and Pine tree sandwiches may become a thing of the past.

So Sad.

Later Y'all.

Happy Peanut Butter Day to you.
My absolute favorite sandwich ever is peanut butter and tomato. When I want to get really upscale, I eat it with sliced jalapenos and tomatoes.
In a pinch, I've used regular green peppers and tomatoes, but jalapenos just kick it up a notch.
You need to try it.

Best comment so far: pb and pierogies. Wow. Best one of your list: peanut butter and eggs. With the wrestler eating it. I could see that. We used to eat pb and banana sandwiches when I was a kid. My mom got me hooked on them.

When I was a kid I would eat peanut butter and dill pickles...I would use a whole pickle and eat the thing like a hot dog on a bun. And of course peanut butter and bananas is a childhood favorite, oh yeah and pb and potato chips - all staples of childhood. Now, I eat peanut butter only in dire emergencies.

My husband eats peanut butter and sandwich spread or mayonnaise - yuck

How could peanut butter and banana not be mentioned yet? It's not just an Elvis thing... it's really good!

Those other ones? Unnatural.

My mom ate peanut butter and mayonaise - it's not bad. My father in law ate peanut butter and bacon - heart problems put a stop to that. Never had all three together, maybe my mom and my FIL were meant to get together and do that three way sandwich.

I go for the standard PB combinations.

PB & butter
PB & banana
PB & jelly

I'm just not an adventurous eater.

Morgen: I was craving PB crackers the other day too! Weird how we want stuff as soon as we can't have it.

Trukindog: Noooo! Not you too!

Gwen: Sausage? Hard Boiled Eggs? Mac & Cheese? Seriously? Gah.

GigglePixie: PB and banana doesn't seem quite so weird, because peanut butter "goes" with sweet things. Chocolate, banana, marshmallows... I can understand that, and I don't really consider it bizarre.

Meloncutter: PB and Pine Tree might not be all that bad...

DaOldMan: I like peanut butter. I like tomatoes. I love jalapenos. But no, for the love of God, never mix the three together!

UnfinishedRambler: (See my reply to GigglePixie.) PB and banana at least sounds "logical", because of the sweetness. The other stuff just kinda makes me shudder and gag.

BroadwayMatron: PB and potato chips??? Really???

Whall: LOL. Go back and re-read. :) A couple people have mentioned PB and banana. It's still probably not something I would ever eat, but at least it's not as horrendous as the other stuff on the list. :)

JohnnyB: Wow. I just can't believe so many people out there really honestly eat these combinations. I am amazed.

Travis: Thank you for mentioning PB and butter! That was the only PB combination I liked as a kid. I'd either eat plain PB sandwiches, or PB and butter. It probably had a trillion calories, but it was good. I've always hated PB and jelly, for some reason. I think I'm the only person on the planet who hates it.

I'm thinking a Peanut butter twinkie sandwhich with Eggplant and palmogranite soaked in Teriyaki sauce...

Janna: oh yeah definitely peanut butter and potato chips - we were kinda like dirt poor for a coupla years and my father would do what he could to make our lunches interesting - so peanut butter and potato chips when even jelly or bananas weren't in the budget - small bag of chips could go a long way...

Gwen: Peanut butter SOUP?

BroadwayMatron: Not sure if the taste would be good, but the hidden crunchiness does sound like it would be fun!

Janna said...

VE: Yes, that would fit right in with this crowd, I fear. :)

Gwenhwyfar said...

Yeah! I think the whole concept originated in Africa. The version I have is more like stew. It's pretty good.

Da Old Man said...

You're chicken.

Brave enough to eat spicy peanuts, brave enough to eat an Angry Whopper, but you fear a PBT&P?

:)

Janna said...

Gwen: Ack!

DaOldMan: Yup! That's exactly it!

No peanut butter for me, thankyouverymuch. I don't wanna get sick.

Janna said...

CWM: I guess it's not the stuff in the jars that's contaminated; it's the pre-packaged snacky things like crackers and cookies and ice creams. So go buy a jar of Jif and you should be ok. :)

Janna said...

CWM: Woops, I just checked that site I linked to, and I guess apparently some jars ARE tainted. Yikes!

i just watched a special yesterday about this peanut butter and jelly sandwhich shop. The peanut butter blt actually sounded good. They use a dark chocolate peanut butter.

Anyhow the i like to eat peanut butter sandwhiches with chili and alot of people think thats weird.

Cincy Diva said...

I eat both PB and pickle...and PB and Mustard.
I also dip carrots into Peanut Butter

Janna said...

JustAGirl: BLT with peanut butter AND chocolate? Wow. I can't even imagine...

CincyDiva: Dipping carrots into PB doesn't sound so bad, because I've heard of PB and celery sticks. I'd be willing to try that. The other stuff, well... not quite. :)

Lynda said...

The most daring I get is peanut butter and banana.

I guess peanut butter and fish heads would be similar to using peanut sauce.

Janna said...

Lynda: Plus, I guess with PB and fish heads, you'd never have to worry about anyone stealing your lunch!
