Janna's Revolution...

Mountain Dew has three new flavors.
They're called Revolution, Supernova, and Voltage.
Apparently Mountain Dew is having this "Vote for your favorite flavor" thingy. Their site is called "Dewmocracy."

Warning: The page loads up with this annoying music. They took perfectly good classical-type music and adulterated it by merging it with hip-hop. Sort of like Mozart after a horrifying nuclear accident. (It reminds me of Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary combined with... with... [insert name of hip-hop artist here].)

Anyway, I bought a bottle of one of the flavors and am about to try it for the very first time. I'll blog about my impressions immediately afterward!
The flavor I chose was "Revolution."
The soda is light blue, and the label says "Dew infused with wild berry fruit flavor and ginseng."
Ready?

Here we go!

I'm opening the bottle....

Taking my first sip...

Hmmm...
The initial flavor is not very eventful. Nothing like the citrusy BURST that regular Dew has.
The berry flavor is only truly noticeable in the aftertaste. You sort of have to drink it, then exhale... then your mouth fills up with the intended flavor.
Kind of blueberry-ish.
I like blueberries. No complaints there. Blueberries are one of my absolute favorite fruits.
So the flavor is ok..... I just wish it was more intense up front, during that initial taste.
I also think the color is rather pale. It's a very light blue, almost clear. Not bright or festive at all. Just sort of plain.

Final verdict: Eh. It's ok. I might buy it again, just for the blueberry aftertaste.

I plan on trying the other two flavors and doing posts about them as well.

Oh, and in case you're still thinking about Mozart in a horrifying nuclear accident, here's what he would look like with five eyes:

Are you going to start doing Soda Saturdays, similar to Dawg's Cereal Wednesdays?

Sam likes anything Dew-ish.

Janna, my son loves the Revolution one! I only drink sugar free so i've not tasted it but he said he liked the berry one and not the one with the grapefruit citrus...looks tasty though..he'd be happy if they brought back Pepsi blue :)

What I want to know is, why do companies feel like they have to name new flavors like they name paint colors?

Now if there was some relation to an actual flavor in the name, then that would be different...like Wild Berry Revolution.

Shelli: I try to mostly stay away from sugary soda these days, but still sometimes I have to be flexible and let myself have fun. I won't drink it every week but I do hope to do posts on the other two Dew flavors.

Meloncutter: I can neither confirm nor deny.

Padraigin: OOoooohHH!! The pink one is GRAPEFRUIT?? I love grapefruit! I can't wait to try that one!!!

Travis: I think they're trying to make us feel cool and mysterious. That's sort of how I feel right now... well, that and the fact that I have to pee.

Janna, thanks for the "blue" comment on my Project Blue post! But you never mentioned Blue Bunny ice cream...don't you like Blue Bunny ice cream?
Also I just finished a book in which the river pilot drank "Dew" throughout the entire memoir... He piloted a boat called the River Queen down the Mississippi for the author who we had speak at our Book & Author Luncheon just recently. I'm not exactly sure of the placement of the phrases of that last sentence but you got it, right? :D

I like the Mozart picture. I wonder if he'd have still been a musician if he'd been born with five eyes.

I think they'd sell more pop if they put enough food coloring in there to change the color of.... well you know, the kind of stuff Fab likes to blog about.

Teach: I'm not sure I've ever had Blue Bunny ice cream, actually... Is it made out of blue bunnies?

Marilyn: Just imagine if FAB had been born with five eyes!
