Ack!

For the most part, I like living in the country.
It's quiet, and the crime rate is low. The scenery is pretty, and I feel close to nature.
However, this evening I would trade it all in for a nice apartment in a big city.
This is because there is the nasty rotten odor of SKUNK permeating my house right now.
I first noticed it around 2:00 in the morning. It was so bad it woke me up, pouring in the bedroom window. Really horrendous. It's four in the morning right now and I can still smell it. There's no way I can get back to sleep now.
That's a shame, because I've been having a bad bout of insomnia lately and had FINALLY gotten to sleep for just a few hours.

Ugh.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been awoken by skunk before, too. Ugh! It's awful.

I grew up in Arizona, and the smell of skunk is both unmistakable and unforgettable. I feel your pain.

I mention that because it's weird - there are no skunks here in Alaska, yet sometimes I catch a whiff of that smell, and I always wonder what it is.

It has, however, never woken me up, thankfully.

Shelli: Smells sorta like a cross between a chemical spill and burnt popcorn.

Wolf: You're in Alaska? Cool!! I've always wanted a reader from Alaska!

When I was a kid we fed the dog on the back porch untill I opened the back door one evening to catch a skunk feasting on kibble... I think that smell wuld keep me up too. I hope it's better by tonight.

I have found that you must use their own weapon against them to rid yourself of a skunk problem.

If the problem persists, do not wash or wipe your privates area for thirty days. I call this odor "skunt". Generally the skunk will not react well to the "Skunt" and will vacate the area by the end of the summer.

I used to have a neighbor that used this method. We moved.

Took the poor skunks with us.

ew

Later Y'all.

Marilyn: It took almost a whole day to subside, but seems to be gone by now, I think.

Melon: I wonder if that's why my neighbors moved a few years ago...

Travis: Exactly!

You expect us to believe you were asleep at 2am?

Pshaw.

Metalmom: That's the problem!

Whall: Usually I'm still awake then, but this particular night I honestly really was asleep!

Umm, Wolf... I can tell you what the likely cause of that smell is. It's not exactly legal in much of the lower 48, it is green instead of black and white. The good stuff, the primo, is often referred to as "skunk" or "stink-weed" due to it's distinctive aroma that is quite similar to the aforementioned odor. Not that I would know ANYTHING about something of that nature... ;-)

Anon: You keep trying to corrupt me and yet I remain pure and innocent. Or something like that. We'll talk more when I see you on Tuesday. :)

Janna: You think the food tastes good now... you should try some of the skunky before you eat. OMG. :-P

Anon: You tempt me. :)
