Once

My mind is an empty dark cave
The explorers foolish yet brave
One miniscule breeze
(Where did I leave my keys?)
A pity there's nothing to save

I thought of words but they perished
Falling through caverns deep dark and squarish
The corners smell bitter
Like old kitty litter
My sanity (once) I had cherished
.

Oh, Jana it would take way more than a minuscule breeze to knock your ever-thinking brain out! Nice poetry young lady! And I enjoyed the Emily D. link. "Scarlett blood" ... Love that

Janna...?
Last week a Haiku
This week a pair of Limericks?
If you write a Triolet next week I'm going to refer you to rehab!!
Loved your poetic 55
You always make me smile...Thanks
You are like finding an UN-opened container of Cool Whip in your freezer right as the timer Dings on your oven telling you that your Pumpkin Pie is done.
Have a Kick Ass Week-End

sanity is over rated any way you know....the shadow corners have such soothing voices any way...

Janna, I understand about perishing words too & perishing keys. And sanity, well it is a matter of degree, I think. Smiles.

Janna? I think it's time to change the litter box.

What a dark 55 this week. Sanity is certainly easy to misplace.

Sanity is highly overrated. Love the rhyme and meter, and the bit of dark humor as well.

Aww. I know that feeling :( Wishing you a better state of mind tomorrow.

Brian: Sanity is indeed overrated.

Mary: Sometimes I wonder....

nonamedufus: Would you like to adopt two slightly used cats?

razzamadazzle: It was here just a moment ago.

hedgewitch: Darkness is my specialty sometimes.

Nara: This state of mind might stick around for awhile. Stay tuned! Send chocolate.

G-Man: (Woops, sorry I forgot to include you in that last bit...)

I'd love to see the kind of rehab they have for people who write too much poetry. ;)

Margaret: I think Emily Dickinson and I would have been good friends if we'd gotten the chance to know one another.
