At long as the blowtorch is going, let's roast a few marshmallows while my insanity blossoms into a beautiful lizard shape

I give up.
I know technology hates me, and I've been relatively at ease with that fact for a couple years now. Technology and I called a truce after the Great Blowtorch Incident Of 2007, but that's another story.
Anyway, I've been trying to leave comments on a certain blog, and it just isn't quite working out.
I think it might have something to do with the fact that I'm on dial-up or I'm using Firefox or something. Apparently there's something called "Disqus" which I'm supposed to click on instead of the regular "comments" link, but it isn't showing up on my screen even though I guess it shows up for everyone else just fine.

Here's a screencap of what I see on my screen.
Where's the disqus thing?

(*momentary pause while I rev up the blowtorch*)

Anyway, just because I feel like it, here are a few of the comments I tried posting:

"With the recession looming, Steve could no longer afford to pay for an
entire haircut."

Things the letters FTWL could stand for:
1. First, There Were Lepers
2. Friday They Watched Lettuce
3. Finding Todd's White Lingerie
4. Free The Whale Livers!
5. Flatulent Truckers Were Laughing

Since my comments are invisible, I can breathe a sigh of relief as I admit that I have absolutely no clue who Jack Layton is.
Also, I ran a red light today, and sometimes I like smelling my own farts.

Whenever I do vegetarian week on the Jannaverse, nobody cares and hardly anyone comments.
I see now what I was doing wrong.
I forgot to post pictures of myself wearing nothing but a lettuce-bra.

No - click on the word "comments" and the box the comes up is the Disqus comment box. The only tricky thing is after you have typed a comment and click enter then you have to sign in with either a Disqus ID, or your gmail id or - well there is a bunch of id's you can use...Just pick one.

The signing in with an id part gets some folks confused. Then again even if your id isn't recognized the blog author can approve your comment manually -

And then to confuse the issue more, the blog author may have comments set to "moderated" in which case they have to be approved anyway ...

I'm so sorry you are on dial-up! Even an air card is better than that....

Grace: I did try clicking on that comments link. Lots of times. It doesn't do anything except take me to a Blogger Comment pop-up, just like this one.
I leave comments there, but apparently they don't show up on the same screen everyone else sees.
He has a warning note there, telling people to back up and use Disqus instead-- but I don't see how to get there. The only comment link I see is the Blogger one.

The I don't know what to tell ya - He must have his configured differently than mine. You commented on my blog and I have Disqus!

Grace: Weird!

Finally, your exquisite and hilarious comments get the larger audience they deserve (here). I don't know what the heck the problem is. It's happened to other commenters, too. I see the comments in my e-mail but when I look for them on the blog they're gone. What should happen is when you click on "comments" it takes you to the comment system Disqus with which I've replaced the pop-up Blogger comment system. Alas in your case that doesn't happen. Your comments are still registering on the Blogger comment system.

P.S. I'd love to hear your blowtorch story.

To nonamedufus: If comments are showing up in Blogger but not in Disqus then you can "import" those errant comments. I have to do this on a regular basis.

In Disqus, go to the Tools tab and click on Import and then follow the instructions.

Thanks, Grace. I'll give it a whirl.

So does this happen to you too?

Pardon me, Janna, while Grace and I sort this out.

nonamedufus: The blowtorch story will only be released to the media after I die.

Grace: Thanks for trying to help!

nonamedufus: You're going to import it so it'll actually be visible to readers? Wow! It's at times like this that I wish I hadn't said stuff about running red lights and smelling my own farts...
Oh, well. Whoever ends up reading it probably does the same thing.

Janna: Sometimes I actually get it right.

nonamedufus: It happens with certain people - Janna's comments used to be like that but the other day Disqus picked her comments up with no problems. There have been times when I had to Import several times before a particular comment would show - I don't know what the problem is.
