It was late and I was tired....

A couple days ago I blogged about how bad my eyesight has gotten.
Saturday night my attention was drawn once again to that unavoidable fact.
I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but what the heck. There's humor in it, I hope.
Y'see, it's hunting season here right now. There are plenty of deer roaming around and crossing the roads. Sometimes they just sort of hover at the side of the road, seemingly waiting to run in front of the next available vehicle.
I was driving to Coldwater last night. It was really dark out. I turned the corner from one road onto another....
Suddenly, I saw movement at the side of the road.
"Oh, my GOD," I thought to myself in shock. "That is the HUGEST deer I have ever SEEN!!"
I slowed way down...
I looked closer...
And then I realized that it wasn't a deer at all.
There was a farm yard there, and these were horses.
Oops.

It' perfectly inderstandable. I Wyoming where there are numerous types of large game animals, tons of cows, and horses, this is a common mistake. At least you could see enough upon closer inspection to realize your mistake. Without my glasses it would have simply looked like a really big blurry blob, and I couldn't have told you if it was a moose, a horse, or a haystack.

I don't know if you saw on your last post but you're being featured on my blog today for Word Picture Sunday.

Square1: Well, if I stare long enough, the horses usually move, but the haystacks don't. Unless it's really windy. Thank you for featuring me on Word Picture Sunday!

Matt-man: I kwno whatq yooou mean.

I've seen more deer in the past week (both dead & alive) than in the past year.
Almost hit one.
Almost wanted to yell at another - that was doing that lingering at the side of the road, making me slow down to a near stand-still.
Then I saw another running across a field. It was running just like how Santa's reindeer run - very cool.
Then I saw a headless deer by the side of the road. Must've been a buck hit by a car. Someone stopped and took it's head!
Then this morning I stopped for breakfast on my way to work - and the truck next to me had a tagged buck in the bed - with it's tongue lolling out. Lovely thing to see when you're gonna go in for an omelet.

I do the same thing when I drive out to the folks' place. Deer can come out of nowhere and I see phantom deer all the time.

Hmmmmmm..... In keeping up with your last few postings. I am sorry that you are having eye problems. I also have to wonder about the hard nipples text message.

The only thing I can think of is with bad eyesight, you must touch your nipples.

Just a thought.

Later Y'all.

You didn't need to admit this, but sometimes...well, we need to share our pain, right?

Aren't horses just deer without antlers? They look the same to me. Maybe I need glasses!

Morgen: Wow. A headless deer would kinda creep me out, I think. Not as much as finding the deer head on my pillow the next morning when I woke up, but still....

Monty: I'm glad she chose me too! :)

Travis: Phantom deer? Do they have capes and hoods and scythes like the angel of death?

Meloncutter: No, but I can try it if you think it would help....

DesertSongbird: I don't mind offering the occasional schaudenfraude as a service to my readers. :)

Wayne: Or contacts! :)
